Sete

A little over three centuries ago, Louis the XIV granted the building of a new part at the end of Canal du Midi---and the port of Sete was born.
This port with its cargo ships, cruise ships, sailing and fishing boats still make up the heart of the town.

Our hotel, L'Orque Bleue, overlooks a busy canal that leads into the Mediterranee

Noisy groups of seagulls escort the return of the trawlers and, that combined with the noisy groups of motor scooters make for a less-than-peaceful setting.

The photo below shows you how easily we can be entertained.  The elevator in our hotel is so tiny, only 4 persons are allowed and 300 killograms of weight....we have the 4 persons tightly tucked in, and we're hoping by holding our breath we kept to the killogram limit as well.
