Carcassone: A Room with a View


We arrived at Les Remparts after a memorable ride with the hotel car-guy, over a road so rocky, bumpy and  narrow we were sure it was from the  the orignal 12th century paving plan. We kept exchanging excited glances that read "what is this? where are we going?"  The turns were so sharp and the road so narrow, Steve had to bring in his arm from the window for fear of getting an severe elbow scrape.

Although the building was old, those ancient winding steps led to a modern, remodeled room...

...with a window with a view of the turrets in the distance....
