Les Baux: Carrieres de Lumieres

First...they were quarries, dug out by men over centuries to extract the white limestone used to build the Chateau and the Cite des Baux.

BUT NOW....drum roll...hold your breath...get ready to say "AAHHH...."

Today it hosts a multimedia show that is unique in the world.  This exhibit, is "Gauguin, VanGogh, Painters of Colour"

It has over 70 projectors which brings to life before your eyes the images of these two painters.  All of the (14-meters high) walls, the pillars, and the grounds of the quarry takes the viewer on a visual and musical journey that is unlike anything we have ever seen.

The images on this post are of Van Gogh's---from his wood cuts, to iris', sunflowers, Provence scenes, and of course, his "Starry Night"
