Dordogne Valley: Castles

The Dordogne River Valley is a rich brew of natural and man made beauty.  During much of the on-again-off-again Hundred Years' War, the river separated warring Britain and France.

The castles were strategically placed to keep an eye on the enemy.  Now they look so serene perched high on rock bluffs and/or tucked in among the trees.
