Dordogne Valley: Ancient Roof Tops

Yet another ancient village, this little one, LaRoque-Gagaec, is sculpted out of the rocks between the river and the cliffs.  As we climbed up and up on the one street, we got on an even level with some of the roofs, while looking down on others.  In both cases, you see how they are constructed.  Notice the stacking of the slate to support the pointed roofs.  This is a common feature, and we'd see sedums and other flora growing among the crevices.
