This was not a place of hope, as people came here to die. Care was more for the soul than for the body. (basic practices of hand-washing and covering the mouth were not practiced until late 19th century) but, details were given to providing physical and spiritual beauty in all the spaces....from the ceilings to the windows, and even the floors.
