Arles: Van Gogh

In 1888, Dutch artist, Vincent vanGogh, left Paris for Provence, and Arles has become the center for his life and work in that time period. Below are a couple samples of his paintings, and then the spot in Arles from which he took his inspiration.  Even though none of the 200+ paintings he did in this area can be found today in this city, the streets are well marked and "easels" with the photos of his paintings are set up for "then-and-now-comparions"
